Vanderbilt Hall Grand Central Terminal
MTA Arts for Transit presents Safari 7 Base Camp, an interactive exhibit about urban wildlife (Oysters! Fish! Squirrels! Chickens!) found along the 7 subway line. During EarthWeek at Grand Central Terminal, visit the Safari 7 Base Camp in Vanderbilt Hall where you’ll be able to listen to podcasts that provide a narrated guide to the ecosystems found along the 7 line and view drawings that describe wildlife along the 7 line. This exhibit is in conjunction with EarthFair organized by Earth Day New York.

The base camp includes a large scale wood listening table, where visitors can plug in their headphones. Individual neighborhoods are arranged like puzzle pieces.

Large format drawings depict species habitats at 6 stops along the 7 line, from the falcons of Bryant Park to Flushing’s Frankenfish.

Maps are available at this ‘trail head’ for the 7 line.

School groups from around the city are visiting to celebrate Earth Day.

The base camp is installed and run by volunteers. Here, Steven Garcia mounts audio equipment donated by CEX to the tables and Jennifer Noguchi swaps animal stories with a visitor.
